2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
The Freedom to Go

The 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is a three-row midsize SUV that offers fantastic fuel economy and interior comfort for families.

Hybrid Capability

Toyota offers the 2022 Highlander in a gasoline version, but the hybrid powertrain is a daily driver’s dream. Easily besting 6.7 L/100km on the highway, the Highlander Hybrid can go for hundreds and hundreds of kilometres without stopping to refuel.

To achieve such fuel economy, the Highlander Hybrid is built with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, and a continuously variable automatic transmission. Combined, these deliver 243 horsepower, which is slightly less than what the V6 can deliver, but you cannot tell. Toyota’s hybrid expertise is easily evident in the Highlander, where fuel efficiency does not mean performance tradeoffs like it does for other automakers.

“The hybrid powertrain in the Toyota Highlander Hybrid makes it super efficient for its size, both in the city and on the highway. An SUV this size is normally a compromise, where you sacrifice some efficiency for the extra space and seating, but the Highlander Hybrid is an efficient midsize family SUV with little compromise.” — Eric Brandt, KBB

A Family-Focused Interior

The 2022 Highlander Hybrid offers two distinct seating options: a second-row bench for a total of eight passengers or second-row captain’s chairs for a total of seven passengers. In both options, Toyota makes it easy for anyone, not just limber children, to access the third row. With a ton of space in the Highlander Hybrid, the second row is easily moved forward to provide ample legroom for passengers in every row.

Stepping inside the Highlander Hybrid, you will find a comfortable and attractive interior that provides the most creature comforts for your driving experience. The driving position presents an expansive view of the road around you, and the dashboard is intuitively laid out. There are physical buttons for the climate control system, heated and ventilated seats, and more, but they are also mirrored on the digital infotainment display, so you can use the ones that work best for you.

“Practical, comfortable, and stylish, the 2022 Toyota Highlander is a family SUV with its eye on the mid-size prize. This three-row ute has plenty to offer and a variety of configurations to appeal to the widest possible audience.” — Drew Dorian, Car and Driver

Technology at Its Finest

The 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is filled with technology features, starting with a touchscreen infotainment system. While an 8.0-inch screen comes standard on most trims, the upper levels get a 12.3-inch display that sits prominently atop the dashboard. On all models, Toyota provides SiriusXM satellite radio, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration.

Toyota also offers a standard suite of driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and more to ensure that the Highlander Hybrid is keeping you and your passengers (and that unwary pedestrian) as safe as possible.

A Well-Rounded Three-Row

“The best of a small segment, the Highlander Hybrid is efficient and offers a long driving range as well as great long-term value.” — Kelly Lin, MotorTrend

Choosing the 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid means welcoming a vehicle that bridges the gap seamlessly between the gasoline and hybrid world. Toyota stands for reliability, and you can expect a decade or three out of your Highlander Hybrid.
