2022 Toyota Corolla Cross
A Versatile New Model that Oozes Style (+video)

“Toyota has its rightful share of genius products and ideas, but this one feels long overdue. Given the enduring popularity of car-based SUVs, we’re stunned no one thought to raise up the venerable Corolla sedan a few inches, add a liftgate and call it a Corolla crossover. Until now. The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross forges its dependable compact car namesake with the utility of the larger RAV4 counterpart.” – Dan Frio, Edmunds

An SUV that Makes Sense

It is easy to see why Corolla Cross is a small SUV that makes sense. The Corolla sedan is popular for a reason and making it available as an SUV design brings more versatility and performance to drivers. It adds optional all-wheel drive (AWD) for all-weather performance, as well as 680 kg of towing capability.

“Still, the Corolla Cross presents an attractive choice for buyers who like the idea of the Corolla’s value and reliability but want the utility of a small SUV. It offers ample cargo space for its size and a bit more ground clearance than is typical to better clear ruts or rocks when driving off-road.” – Dan Frio, Edmunds

Performance Where It Counts

Every model of the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross is built with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable transmission, which means it drives effortlessly and with plenty of oomph thanks to its 169 horsepower. With an agreeable ride and composed handling, the Corolla Cross offers comfort to drivers wanting the Corolla feel but the SUV’s ride height.

The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross also expertly performs in situations where safety is on the line. Equipped with state-of-the-art safety systems, including Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, the Corolla Cross helps extend driver awareness and the ability to avoid collisions. Standard safety features include a back-up camera, ten air bags, lane departure alert with steering assist and road edge detection, pre-collision system with pedestrian and bicycle detection, and more.

Expert Styling

The small crossover segment is crowded with options, but as the newest competitor, the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross has a leg up on the competition. Toyota combines everything loveable about the compact Corolla sedan and supercharges it with an SUV body. It features a distinctive black grille, integrated rear spoiler, and LED lighting.

The interior also takes many of its styling cues from its sedan sibling, but it adds more passenger space and more cargo area thanks to its design. You will be treated to a touchscreen infotainment display that offers both digital and physical buttons, as well as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio.

“At Toyota we know that well-designed and engineered small vehicles deliver big driving fun – which is why we created the all-new Corolla Cross. Toyota designers crafted a premium-feeling subcompact SUV, and Toyota engineers delivered: The Corolla Cross is stylish, dynamic, and capable – with smart technology features, fun-to-drive performance including sure-footed AWD options, impressive space and versatility, plus Toyota’s unmatched quality and efficiency.” – Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc.
