Summer’s Biggest Family Bash
35th Annual Whistler’s Children Festival

For the 35th year in a row, Whistler’s much-loved Children’s Festival is gearing up for a fun weekend under the sun at Whistler Olympic Plaza. This family-friendly event is not one to miss.

Every year, the action-packed festival promises a flurry of activities and performances that bring the Great Lawn at Olympic Plaza to life. This July, the event will be held from Friday, July 6th to Sunday, July 8th. Kids and adults alike can let their imaginations run wild amidst the stages, circus acts, workshops, balloons, costumes, and music in the heart of Whistler Village. This fantastic family fest is made possible through the efforts of Arts Whistler, a charity which strives to integrate arts into the Whistler community.

The festival will be kicking off on Friday at Olympic Plaza with an all-ages pyjama dance party. This fun event is a great way to get into the spirit of the festival, and it’s completely free to attend. If anyone in your group forgot their pyjamas or would just like to buy a brand new pair, there are plenty of gift shops around town where you can find some cute, Canadian-themed sleeping duds.

Saturday and Sunday will feature two full days of entertainment, including workshops, interactive activities, and stage performances. The entrance fee allows you to catch the performances and take part in numerous activities and workshops such as face painting and origami lessons. A free-play area for children under two years of age will also be available. If you like, you can also enrol your kids in some paid creative workshops where they can learn how to build birdhouses, create dream catchers, and perform magic tricks.

To have a smooth and stress-free experience at the Whistler’s Children Festival, it’s a good idea to purchase your admission tickets online ahead of time. You’ll be able to skip the lines and head right into the festival grounds when you arrive. Registering online for the paid creative workshops will also allow you to prepare for the day with a set itinerary, ensuring that you don’t miss any of the activities your kids might be interested in.

It’s also a good idea to spread your time at the Whistler’s Children Festival over the full weekend, rather than trying to squish it all into a day. A full weekend pass will only cost you a little extra and really allow you to take in all of the activities and performances at your own pace. While you’re at it, make sure you always fuel up before heading to the festival at one of the many family restaurants located within minutes of Olympic Plaza.

Finally, one of the most important tips for having a great time at the Whistler’s Children Festival is to check the weather ahead of time and dress yourself and your kids accordingly. Keep in mind that even if the weather does call for sunshine and blue skies, you should always be prepared for a chance of showers by bringing along a light jacket.

The Whistler’s Children Festival is a time to let go and have fun with your little ones. Expect moments of wonder and laughter as you explore new things together over three carefree days of summer.
