Pemberton Winterfest
Welcome the New Year in a Winter Wonderland

Just 20 minutes past the world-famous ski resort of Whistler and only two hours north of Vancouver, Pemberton lays nestled at the base of Mount Currie. Though it is one of the province’s fastest-growing communities, it still retains that charming and welcoming small-town vibe. It is a wonderful place to experience mountain culture, not least for its amazing views and outdoor recreational opportunities.

This year’s Pemberton Winterfest New Year’s celebration is set to take place on Tuesday, December 31st at the Pemberton & District Community Centre. The festivities are scheduled from 2 pm to 8 pm and, like every year, you can look forward to a wide array of family-friendly events and activities.

As Winterfest is held during the coldest time of year, most of the activities and events take place indoors so that attendees can stay warm and comfortable. The day will begin with a kids’ dance party followed by a family movie screening at the Pemberton & District Public Library (which is located in the same building).

There will also be a Kids Zone area offering fun activities for the little ones, like face painting, kids’ crafts, and glitter tattoos. Older attendees can check out board games from the games cafe and, depending on the weather conditions on the day of Winterfest, there may be some fun outdoor activities set up as well. Later, everyone can take part in a Family Dance Party complete with a DJ and a massive spinning disco ball.

Don’t worry about getting hungry while at Winterfest, as Brooklyn’s Pizza will be providing freshly baked pizzas for everyone. There will also be delicious hot chocolate available with all of the fixings, like marshmallows and whipping cream. As the night progresses and the sun sets, you can head outside again and do some stargazing while staying cozy by one of the fire pits. You can also roast up some hot dogs and s’mores provided by the Pemberton Valley Supermarket.

Winterfest festivities will draw to a close with a fireworks display from the field of Signal Hill Elementary School across the street at 8 pm. Last year’s fireworks were bigger and better than ever and it’s likely this tradition will continue, so get ready for a spectacular show.

If you’ll be driving in from out of town, then note that parking is free at the Pemberton & District Community Centre as well as at Signal Hill Elementary School. Best of all, Pemberton Winterfest itself is also completely free to attend, so you can ring in the New Year while getting a jump on your resolution to save some money!

Winterfest is a celebration of winter, nature, and community. Locals and visitors from all up and down the Sea-to-Sky Corridor are invited to gather together for a fun night where they can kick back and relax. For those looking to welcome the New Year in a true winter wonderland, this is one party you don’t want to miss.
