Fore the View
Most Scenic Golf Courses in Canada

As they are located in such a beautiful country, Canada’s golf courses are among the most scenic in the world. For a spectacular backdrop to your game, there is just no better place to play.

Out of all of the picturesque golf courses that you’ll find across Canada, there are some that truly stand out for their views and design. From coast to coast, here are the golf courses that deliver on the most stunning vistas that Canada has to offer.

Banff Springs, Alberta

In the heart of the world-famous Banff National Park, the Banff Springs golf course stands in a league of its own. The first 18 holes were designed in 1928 by master golf course architect Stanley Thompson and nine additional holes have since been added. The course is situated along the winding Bow River and underneath the castle-like Fairmont Banff Springs hotel.

Jasper Park Lodge, Alberta

The stunning work of Stanley Thompson is also on display at the Jasper Park Lodge in Jasper National Park north of Banff. This award-winning, 18-hole course was carved seamlessly into the wilderness in 1925 by a team of 200 men and 50 horses. The course’s holes are aligned with the peaks of some of the Canadian Rockies’ highest and most impressive mountains, and the fairways are lined with thick forests.

Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs, Nova Scotia

The 18-hole Cabot Links course and its neighbouring 18-hole Cabot Cliffs course combine to create a truly unique golfing experience. Ranked #43 on Golf Digest’s World’s 100 Greatest Courses and designed by Rod Whitman, Cabot Links is located between the town of Inverness and the Atlantic Ocean. Its popularity led to the opening of the Cabot Cliffs course in 2015. Perched on the cliffs over the Northumberland Strait and designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, Cabot Cliffs is ranked #9 by Golf Digest.

Bear Mountain, British Columbia

Bear Mountain Resort on beautiful Vancouver Island is also home to two distinct and incredibly scenic golf courses, both designed by Jack Nicklaus. For mountain views and more of a challenging golf experience, choose the Mountain Course. For the serenity of the lakes and forests and a more relaxed experience, choose the Valley Course. For the most thrilling 36-holes of golf you’ll find anywhere, choose both!

Fairmont Chateau Whistler, British Columbia

If you need any further proof that mountains are just made for golf courses, then come play at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., this 18-hole course requires a golf court to navigate its elevation changes. It weaves alongside British Columbia’s majestic Coastal Mountain range, which provides impressive views at every turn.

Muskoka Bay, Ontario

Mountainous golf courses aren’t the only ones that feature dramatic changes in elevation. The Muskoka Bay Club golf course was designed by architect Doug Carrick to utilize the natural ruggedness, wild beauty, and curving slopes of the Canadian Shield. Built among wetlands and rock outcroppings, it features panoramic vistas of the surrounding pine forests.

As you can see, Canada really does deliver when it comes to beautiful golf courses. Though you probably don’t need much extra motivation to play, these scenic locations will have you even more eager to get out and get swinging.
