2023 Nissan Ariya
Arriving Fall of 2022 (+video)

The move toward an all-electric future will take another leap forward later this year, with the release of a new EV SUV from Nissan. The first details of this exciting new model have been revealed ahead of its launch in fall 2022, and from what we know so far it looks like the 2023 Nissan Ariya will set new standards in the electric crossover arena.

Here are the key highlights you can look forward to enjoying with a test drive once the model hits the dealerships.

Choose Your Powertrain and Performance Level

For Canadian drivers the 2023 Ariya will be available with several battery and powertrain configurations, letting you choose your ideal balance of power, handling, and driving range. At the entry level, a 63-kWh battery will be paired with front-wheel drive, providing a hefty 214 horsepower and a maximum range of up to 346km.

Switching to all-wheel drive using the same battery delivers 335 horsepower and 328km of range, while upgrading to an 87-kWh battery pushes the power up to 389hp with an impressive maximum range of 426km.

But whichever powertrain configuration you choose, the rest of the 2023 Ariya’s features and technology reach the same high standards of quality and innovation.

Advanced e-4ORCE All-Wheel Drive

Nissan might have named their e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system a little clumsily, but the technology it represents is as advanced as any EV on the market today. Using dual electric motors to provide high horsepower and instant electric torque, the Ariya can distribute drive to each wheel individually for impeccable grip in all weather conditions.

What’s more, the e-4ORCE system can switch full power to the front or rear wheels as needed, delivering smooth and powerful acceleration combined with confident stability and control.

Active Safety and Driver Assist

The advanced level of technology continues into the Ariya’s generous selection of active safety and driver assist systems, which work to reduce the risks of collisions while also lowering driver fatigue levels. Powered by a combination of cameras, radar, and sonar, the advanced technology covers the following areas and more:

  • Automatically keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, alongside automatic stop-and-go ability in heavy traffic.
  • Automatic lane centering on the highway, keeping you safely on track even through gentle curves.
  • Automatic emergency braking complete with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
  • Automatic slowdown to safe speeds when approaching off-ramps and upcoming curves.
  • Automatic push-button parking, with the Ariya taking over throttle, steering, and even gear changes to slot into the tightest spaces.

High-End Interior Technology

The 2023 Ariya is likely to include the most advanced suite of in-cabin technology yet seen on any Nissan vehicle. Dual 12.3″ digital displays can be customized to show essential driving information and your favourite apps, while the integrated intelligent route planner offers advanced GPS navigation capability with immediate, accurate directions to your nearest fast charger facility.

Smartphone integration is made easy with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, complete with voice control capability, and the wireless charging pad means you don’t need to worry about trailing cables to keep your devices charged and ready to go.

And lastly, a dedicated smartphone app is available to remotely operate many of the Ariya’s functions, from climate control to charging status, without needing to enter the car.

All these features and more are set to raise the bar for electric crossovers when the 2023 Ariya is released in fall 2022, bringing the all-electric future closer still.
