2018 Kia Rio
Clever Efficiency Inside and Out

Kia made a few changes to the 2018 Kia Rio, and some of those changes include a more spacious cabin and new sheet metal.

See What’s New

Since useable space is a priority in a subcompact, Kia made the 2018 Rio a bit wider and longer, which translates into more room for you in the cabin.

They also redesigned the body, which made the A-pillars more upright, and they made changes to the seats to give you more room for family and friends.

Slimmer headliner and re-contoured door panels add to the extra cabin room.

Kia gave the new Rio a “tiger nose” that is common among other Kia models this year, and the backend of the sedan and the hatchback are now more upright. Kia also improved the suspension and redesigned the damper and spring for a smoother ride.

In addition to the extra space, Kia has loaded the 2018 Rio with many high-tech features that include both safety and entertainment options.

The Kia Rio starts its fourth generation with three trim levels. At the EX level, you can connect with your Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and view the results on a 7-inch touch screen. This puts all of your favourite apps and music within easy reach. Bluetooth® connectivity is also an option, and that makes hands-free calling a snap.

Safety First

Kia makes Autonomous Emergency Braking available on some of the trim lines. This feature helps to boost safety ratings because it can determine and correct the forward motion of the vehicle in a front-end collision scenario. This type of mitigation takes some of the human error factors out of the equation.

Other safety features include Electronic Brakeforce Distribution that helps distribute the proper amount of brake pressure to each wheel and a Brake Assist System that aids in preventing skids and loss of control.

Kia kept the 1.6-litre GDI 4-cylinder engine; this is the same engine in the 2017 Rio. It is built for economy, and it continues to offer fuel-saving performance. When you opt for the 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters on the steering wheel, you can take even more control over how much fuel you save.

Whether you decide upon the 2018 or the 2017 Kia Rio, you are getting an efficient and agile car that is at home on the city streets as much as it is at home on the highways.

The 2017 Rio gets up to 8.8 in the city and up to 6.5 L/100km on the highways.

The interior has a few convenience factors besides the connection to your favourite apps that make long distance travelling less stressful. The cooling glove box makes an excellent place to put your drink bottles since they will stay cold as you travel. The heated front seats give you warmth on the coldest winter days, and that makes your commutes that much more comfortable.

Kia is dropping the SX trim package for 2018, so if you want this trim level, you will need to buy the 2017 Kia Rio. The SX adds equipment like a power sunroof and navigation to the EX lineup. It also increases the wheel size from 16 inches to 17 inches and is built on a sport suspension for better handling and responsiveness.

The 2017 Kia Rio and the 2018 Kia Rio are both fun to drive, so if you come by and see us, we will let you drive either one. Stop by today.
