Ken Homeniuk first started in the car industry in 1975! His father was the General Sales Manager of a dealership in Burnaby. He recalls fond memories when his mom would let him visit his father at work. He always had a passion for cars at a very young age. When he turned 16, he got his license and was offered a job at the dealership. He had the privilege and opportunity to work with adults and learn his new position along with all the responsibilities. He looked after all of the inventory and made sure that each vehicle had been through the city testing station – it was a big responsibility and he loved it!
The big turn around for Ken, was when he was offered a job from his Soccer coach, to work in his Bakery. Ken accepted the job and worked both at the bakery and dealership. He was told he was a hard worker and a natural and with his bakery skills and that he would be a great baker and pastry chef. So, he did just that, he went to BCIT and finished his 3 years. He landed a job with Woodward’s and then Safeway. He took on management roles and trained new Baker Apprentices. He then decided it was time for him to take early retirement. At that time, his older brother and father had suggested he come back to the dealership and start selling cars. His passion had once again been offered to him again and he was appreciative of the opportunities. He has now been back in the car industry for 7 years at West Coast Ford Lincoln. He enjoys meeting new people and being around his co-workers and colleagues daily.
When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family; his son, daughter and wife of 39 years. His son is the 3rd generation Sales Manager at a car dealership in the downtown area. His daughter recently got married and he is looking forward to the possibility of grandchildren soon. He loves to play his guitar, going skiing and watching sports!
