42nd Annual Vancouver International Wine Festival

One of the premier food and wine events in Canada, the Vancouver International Wine Festival will be taking place from Saturday, February 22nd to Sunday, March 1st. For eight days, you can attend a number of wine-themed activities at 29 different venues across the city. Around 25,000 people come to experience the festival every year.

There are 57 events happening in total at the Vancouver International Wine Festival this year, ensuring a busy and exciting festival for festivalgoers. The festival will kick off on opening night with a gala dinner and auction, and the week that follows will be full of wine parties, educational seminars, culinary competitions, gourmet dinners, wine tastings, and lunches and brunches around the city. Note that the festival is a 19+ event and attendees cannot be accompanied by infants or children.

The main draw of the Vancouver International Wine Festival is always The International Festival Tastings, which will be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre from the 27th to the 29th. All participating festival wineries take part in the tastings. There will be more than 160 wineries from 16 different countries at the festival, and attendees will be able to select from 1,450 different wines. This year’s featured country is France, with 42 participating wineries. The featured country is provided with its own section at the tastings.

During the tastings, attendees will also be able to purchase all of their favourite wines at the BC Liquor Stores Wine Shop. Wines at other special events will not be available for purchase on-site, but many can be found at liquor stores around the province. The festival app will have contact information for participating wineries, so you can always ask them where to find their products.

The very first Vancouver International Wine Festival was held in 1979. It had an attendance of about 1,000 people and featured just one winery. By its fourth year, however, it had attracted 45 wineries from California and, by its 9th year, it hosted wineries from six additional countries. The festival moved to the Vancouver Convention Centre in 1988, where it has been held ever since.

Today, the Vancouver International Wine Festival attracts some of the most prominent players in the international wine industry. It seeks to provide an entertaining and educational experience for the public while serving as a premier wine industry marketing event. It also raises funds for the Bard on the Beach Theatre Society, which hosts the Shakespeare Festival in Vanier Park every summer.

The Vancouver International Wine Festival is one of the largest and longest-running wine festivals in the world, and it is regularly voted as one of the best food and wine events in Canada. It is the perfect festival for wine lovers but also a great event for anyone who is looking for something fun and exciting to do at the end of February.
