Capilano Winter Festival
Experience Magical Nights at Canyon Lights

A beloved annual tradition, Canyon Lights, A Winter Festival transforms Capilano Suspension Bridge Park into a holiday hotspot full of beautiful and enchanting light displays.

Canyon Lights is getting set for its 12th season of hosting and astonishing visitors from all over at this popular, year-round tourist spot. The festival will officially begin on Thursday, November 22, 2018, and run for over two months until Sunday, January 27, 2019, giving you plenty of time to come and visit.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is an incredible place to visit during any time of year, and it’s even better during Canyon Lights. Hundreds of thousands of lights will be on display throughout the park. The canyon and the surrounding rainforest become a magical holiday wonderland for you to explore.

Your adventure will begin by crossing the 137-metre long and 70-metre high Capilano Suspension Bridge over the Capilano River to a towering evergreen forest. There, you’ll find Treetop Adventure, which is made up of seven bridges suspended over the forest floor. The bridges are attached to eight, 250-year-old Douglas fir trees, each of which will be lit up like giant, towering Christmas trees!

Don’t worry about getting hungry while exploring Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. In fact, you should come hungry so that you can eat your fill of locally-sourced, West Coast-inspired food available at Loggers’ Grill. Make sure you also visit the Trading Post before heading home to pick up a unique souvenir. You’ll find everything from clothing and accessories to specialty food products.

During the Canyon Lights festival, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park will be open daily from 11 am to 9 pm, with holiday festivities starting at 4 pm. It’s definitely worthwhile to come early and see the park during the daylight hours if you’ve never seen it before. The only day that Capilano Suspension Bridge Park will be closed during Canyon Lights is Christmas Day.

Admission tickets are valid for the entire day and cost $46.95 for adults (17-64 years), $42.95 for seniors (65+), $34.95 for students (17+ with ID), $27.95 for youth (13-16), and $14.95 for children (6-12). Children under six get free admission to the park.

There is $5 pay parking available at the park. Alternatively, you can catch a free shuttle from Canada Place in downtown Vancouver to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park every 30 minutes during the festival. It’s a great option if you want to start your day exploring Vancouver and check out the lights afterwards.

If you’re looking to avoid major lines getting into the park, then try to visit before December 21st or after January 6th, ideally on a weekday if you can. Make sure you dress for the weather and bring the proper winter footwear as well. Also, note that strollers are not permitted on park attractions, so make sure that you safely carry any little ones in a secure baby carrier.

There’s just so much to see during Canyon Lights, A Winter Festival at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, including the beautiful surrounding nature that is always there and the twinkling holiday lights that only make an appearance over the holidays. Make sure you take lots of pictures to capture the experience and help you remember it for many years to come.
