The sweet and simple apple is always fun and easy to cook with. It makes an especially delicious addition to warm fall dishes that you can enjoy as the weather cools down.

Fall is a time of harvest, which means you have several excellent choices when it comes to cooking with seasonal ingredients. One of the most quintessential fall ingredients, apples can be used in a variety of tasty recipes, including apple crumble, baked apples, and apple tart.

Apple Crumble

This classic apple dish is a fall favourite in many households for its sweet taste and gooey filling. Plus, it’s easy to whip up more than enough to satisfy the entire family.

Ingredients
6 medium apples
1/2 cup sugar
1 lemon, juiced
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 and 1/8 cup all-purpose flour
8 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Salt

Instructions

1. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the apple slices with 1/8 cup flour, sugar, and lemon juice.

3. In another large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, brown sugar, oats, walnuts, cinnamon, and a dash of salt. Cut the butter into small pieces and incorporate it with a pastry cutter.

4. Pour the apple mixture into a lightly greased baking dish (9×13 inches) and spread evenly. Pour the crumble mixture over top.

5. Bake at 350 F for about 45 minutes, until browned. Allow to cool, then serve!

Baked Apples

This dish really lets apples shine. All you have to do is core them, fill them with a delicious filling, and bake them! It couldn’t be simpler, and it couldn’t be tastier.

Ingredients
4 large apples
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons dried cranberries
2 tablespoons chopped pecans
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

1. Use a spoon or a knife to cut holes in the apples for stuffing.

2. Mix together the ingredients for the filling, then stuff each apple with the mixture.

3. Place the apples on a baking dish and pour warm water into the pan to keep them from drying out.

4. Bake at 375 F for about 40 minutes, until tender but not too mushy.

5. Remove from the oven, baste with the juices of the pan, and serve!

Make the whole house smell amazing, and enjoy a beautiful table presentation with a classic apple tart. It makes a fantastic fall dessert that likely won’t leave any leftovers!

1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
