Hot Breakfast Ideas to Start Your Day Off Right

Working from home presents the unique opportunity to make hot, tasty, filling, and healthy breakfasts in your very own kitchen. However, many who work from the home office can still find their mornings to be rushed as they hurry to clock in on time or finish up work before a deadline. To help you start your mornings off on the right foot, here are some ideas for hot breakfasts that are quick and easy to make.

Scrambled Eggs with Cheese and Herbs

Scrambled eggs are a breakfast staple, and you can take them up a notch by mixing them with cheese and sprinkling them with some delicious herbs for extra flavour. Some of the best herbs to add to your morning eggs are fresh parsley, chives, and thyme. Cream cheese is also a great choice of cheese as its soft texture is easy to work in, and you can even choose a version with added herbs for more taste.

Egg in a Hole

This is a fun dish that you make by cutting out a circle from the centre of a piece of bread, placing it in a skillet, and cracking an egg into the hole. Allow the egg to cook before flipping the bread and cooking the other side. Spread mayonnaise or butter on the bread before cooking to get that nice golden brown and crispy finish.

Breakfast Skewers

Enjoy your breakfast on a stick or eat these skewers along with the two egg dishes above for a hearty and filling breakfast. All you need is some common breakfast ingredients like potatoes, sausages, onions, and mushrooms along with some skewer sticks. Poke your ingredients on a skewer and grill, brushing with butter as you turn to ensure even heating. Remove from heat when everything is browned and cooked through.

Quinoa Power Bowl

Quinoa is a nutritious seed filled with fibre, important vitamins, and protein. Plus, it goes great with a plethora of breakfast ingredients. To make a quinoa breakfast power bowl, start by cooking one cup of quinoa in two cups of milk. Bring the milk to a boil, add the quinoa, and simmer for about 15 minutes until all of the milk is absorbed. Then, stir in ingredients like yogurt, brown sugar, chopped apple, berries, raisins, or chia seeds to your taste.

Apple and Hash Brown Pancakes

A twist on the typical pancakes, this tasty meal combines shredded hash brown potatoes and shredded onions for a breakfast that will get your brain going. Just combine the two main ingredients, add in additional ingredients like chopped onions and chives, season with salt and pepper, and spread the mixture onto a large skillet. Consider sprinkling with shredded cheese and cook until the pancake is golden brown on both sides.

Power up your work-from-home mornings with a hot breakfast that will keep you going right on through to lunch. Experiment with using your favourite ingredients and flavours to create delicious breakfast dishes that make you excited to get out of bed and get started on your day.
