Halloween Rush
9 Last-Minute Costume Ideas If You’re in a Pinch

Halloween comes once a year, but it can have a way of sneaking up on you. If you’re in need of a last-minute costume, don’t worry. There’s always something you can put together at home.

Whether you’re getting ready for a Halloween party or you just need a costume for handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, here are nine quick and simple costume suggestions you can try.

1. Witch

The quintessential Halloween costume, all you really need to be a witch is a witch’s hat – which you likely have in the back of your closet from years past. Then, just don an all-black outfit, accessorize with a broom, and you’re all set.

2. Santa Claus

To continue with the hat theme, a Santa hat is all you need to go as jolly old Saint Nick. If you’ve got a red sweater or, better yet, a red robe, then you can really sell the costume. Fake spider webs make a great fake beard as well.

3. Tourist

Raid your closet for what you wore on your last vacation for an instant tourist costume. Don’t forget accessories like sunglasses, a fanny pack, a camera, and a sun hat. A Hawaiian or a Disney theme park shirt will tie it all together.

4. Mummy

Have a toilet paper roll or two to spare? Enlist the help of a friend and wrap up your arms, legs, and torso for a quick mummy costume. It may not be the most glamorous option, but everyone will instantly know what you’re going for.

5. Lumberjack

If you have an old flannel shirt hanging around, then pair it with some jeans or overalls for a lumberjack look. Accessorize with a fake axe from a dollar store and you’re good to go. Plus, Halloween can be a chilly time of year, so you’ll enjoy being warm and comfortable in your flannel all night.

6. Rosie the Riveter

Is it possible to make a great Halloween costume in just minutes? We can do it! Transform into cultural icon Rosie the Riveter by donning a blue button-down, a red headband, dark pants, and a sturdy pair of boots. As soon as you flex those arm muscles, everyone will know who you are.

7. Black cat

If you happen to have some face paint at home, then there couldn’t be an easier costume than a black cat. Simply paint your nose black, add some whiskers, and put on a black shirt and black pants. A cat-ear headband is a plus, but not a necessity.

8. Mime

Another easy costume if you have white face paint and a white and black striped shirt is a mime. Just paint your face all in white and pair your shirt with some dark pants. A pair of sleek black gloves and a black hat will complete the look.

9. Emoji

If you enjoy getting crafty and have some extra poster board lying around, then you can go as your favourite emoji. All you have to do is draw and cut out a face-sized emoji and affix it to a sturdy handle. During photos or when someone asks you what you are, just hold it up to your face!

Halloween is all about having a great time embracing all sorts of silly getups. Even if you’ve thrown your look together last-minute, get ready to receive your share of compliments for your quick and clever costume.
