Changing search Engines on your Apple devices
How to change your search engine
When it comes to Google, it is the best search engine for a reason, it’s intrusive. It tracks everything you search for and ties that info into your logged in Google account. You have the ability to log into Google and wipe information that you have searched for.
As for a search engine on an Apple device, (using Safari on an Apple Computer or iPhone or an iPad), your default search is either Google or duck duck go.
To avoid Google on the Mac OS Safari Web Browser, do the following:
1) Launch Safari
2) Click on Safari preferences (top menu bar – click on the word safari – click on the word preferences)
3) When the window opens – click on search and choose a different search engine – duckduckgo for example,
• Keep in mind, there may be times where google finds more things relating to your search due it’s intrusiveness but give duckduckgo a whirl.
• You can always go to google.com if you need search for more related items.
• In the safari browser when you type into the URL address line what you are searching for it, will use duckduckgo by default.
ON the iPhone or iPad to change your search engine, do the following:
1) Go to settings on the iPhone / iPad
2) Scroll down to safari in the settings
3) Click on safari setting and go to the search area and change google to another search engine, example Google, Yahoo, Bing, duckduckgo
Now when you do a search with your phone, it will use default search engine you chose in the settings.
