Free and Family-Friendly Events Across the Province

Alberta Culture Days is a three-day festival held all across Alberta dedicated to celebrating the arts, culture, heritage, and diversity of the province and the people who call it home.

If you’re looking for something for the whole family to do at the end of September, then there’s sure to be an Alberta Culture Days event happening near you. This year’s celebrations are scheduled for Friday, September 27th to Sunday, September 29th, promising a weekend of fun and frivolity. Here are seven fantastic and completely free events happening across the province for Alberta Culture Days 2019.

Serenata, Edmonton

Kick off your Alberta Culture Days celebrations with Serenata, a live chamber music performance that will be taking place at La Cite Francophone at noon on September 27th. The players, all of them community musicians, will be set up in the rotunda so that audiences can enjoy the music from both levels of La Cite Francophone. Children are welcome to attend and dancing is encouraged!

Taste of Beaumont, Beaumont

Looking for an event that will satisfy your taste buds? Come sample the culinary delights of Beaumont at the Beaumont Community Centre from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm on September 28th. Local food and beverage vendors will be on-site to provide delicious samples and there will be family-friendly entertainment to enjoy as well.

Multicultural Fall Festival at the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre

The Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre will be hosting its Multicultural Fall Festival during all three days of Alberta Culture Days. Stop by for cultural performances by Chinese, European, and Canadian groups, as well as for a multicultural food market where you’re sure to find some unique goodies. Other events and activities include a cultural art gallery, cultural classrooms, and a calligraphy art exhibition.

Cochrane Culture Fest 2019

Cochrane’s annual Culture Fest is all about celebrating the town’s rich diversity. Visit the Cochrane Lions Event Centre on September 29th from 1 pm to 5 pm for food, multi-cultural entertainment, great music, door prizes, face painting, and more!

Fall Paint-Out 2019, Foothills

On September 28th and 29th, the Leighton Art Centre in Foothills will be hosting its annual Fall Paint-Out. Both days will feature an indoor and outdoor art exhibition, a series of workshops, outdoor painting, and weaving demonstrations. On September 28th there will also be a noon “Tea & Talk” event to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the Leighton Foundation.

Cultural Themed Scavenger Hunt, Grande Prairie

The Grande Prairie Museum will be hosting a cultural-themed scavenger hunt throughout its galleries during all three days of Alberta Cultural Days. It’s a great way to have fun with the whole family while getting to see all of the museum’s exhibits at the same time.

Hello Local Night Market, Leduc

Another event happening on the first day of Culture Days, the Hello Local Night Market will be taking place from 5 pm to 9 pm at Leduc’s Stone Barn Garden. Come enjoy the beautiful fall evening as you browse the market’s selection of handcrafted and artisanal goods, including clothing, accessories, jewelry, and decor. Food trucks and live entertainment will also be on-site.

Since its inception in 2008, Alberta Culture Days has grown considerably in size and scope. This year, come and join thousands of others across the province as they discover and experience Alberta’s largest cultural celebration.
