Hi,

My 2005 Honda Accord is about to have its second timing belt and water pump done. Is this necessary and why? It is a big job?

Hi Gwen, thanks for writing into us.

The reason why it’s important to have your timing belt done is the fact that if it were to fail it would cause severe engine damage.

Now giving the age of the vehicle, I would consider having the vehicle looked over to determine what else it needs before performing a second timing belt service as it might not be worth it.

But if your car is in great shape and you plan on driving it for a long time then it would be wise to get it done.
