Festive Crafts
4 Quick and Easy Holiday DIY Decor Projects

Below, you will find four crafts that you can quickly put together using materials you may already have at home or materials you can pick up for cheap at any craft or dollar store.

Mason Jar Snow Globe
It’s a lot of fun to shake up a snow globe and watch the glittering snow fall slowly to the bottom again. If you make your own mason jar snow globe, it’ll be a fraction of the price and twice as special. Here’s how:
• Use proper canning jar lids that have a rubber seal to keep the liquid inside.
• With a hot glue gun, glue together the two parts of your mason jar lid.
• Choose a small, waterproof figurine such as a snowman or a tree from a Christmas village set and hot glue the base of the figurine to the inside of the lid.
• Pour about a tablespoon of glitter into the mason jar.
• Fill the jar with water, but don’t fill it all the way to the top. Keep in mind that the figurine will displace some of the liquid.
• Add about five drops of glycerine to thicken the liquid and allow the snow to fall more slowly.
• Screw the lid with the attached figurine onto the jar and glue around the rim to help seal it.

Once you’re done, you can set your new snow globe on a coffee table, a side table, a mantle, or wherever it will be easily accessible for family and friends to play with.

Scrabble Ornaments
If you have an old scrabble set that you know you’re unlikely to use again, why not make a neat ornament out of it? You can also often find scrabble tiles at craft stores. All you need is the tiles, some ribbon or twine, and a hot glue gun. Simply glue the tiles onto the ribbon or twine so that they spell holiday-themed words, such as “snow,” “joy,” “peace,” “Santa,” or anything else you want them to say, and then hang them from your tree!

Gift Bow Wreath
Another simple and straightforward craft, all you need to make a gift bow wreath is a foam wreath form (which you can pick up at any craft store), several packs of gift bows, and the ever-useful hot glue gun. Then, one by one, simply peel away the strip from the back of each bow, apply some glue for extra adhesiveness, and press it onto the wreath form. Continue adding bows until you have covered the whole form, then allow it to dry and hang anywhere you like!

Glittering Pinecones
Do you have a lot of pinecones all over your yard this time of year? You can collect the prettiest ones and turn them into a neat, multipurpose decoration by following these steps:
• Spray each pinecone completely using a spray adhesive. It’s best to do this outside or in the garage.
• Fill a resealable plastic bag with glitter and place your pinecones inside.
• Shake the bag until the pinecones are fully coated.

That’s all it takes! Once your pinecones have dried, you can place them in bowls or around floral arrangements, use them to liven up a place setting, or even use them as ornaments in your tree.

Whether you need some last-minute decorations or you just want to add a personal touch to your holiday decor, DIY is the way to go.
