2021 Honda Odyssey
Rated an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ (+video)

The 2021 Honda Odyssey has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest accolade, the 2020 TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) rating.

It is the first minivan to be awarded with a 2020 TSP+ rating and the only minivan to earn a top rating for ease of use of its LATCH child seat attachment hardware. Further, Odyssey’s standard front crash prevention system earned “Superior” ratings from the Institute in vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian avoidance tests. With this award, a combined seven Honda models have earned 2020 TSP ratings or better.

For the 2021 model year, all Odyssey models provide Honda Sensing® as standard equipment on all trim levels. Honda Sensing® is now available or standard on every Honda automobile model, and there are more than 3.5 million Honda vehicles on U.S. roads today featuring this comprehensive suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies, which includes Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Pedestrian Detection; Forward Collision Warning; Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) incorporating Lane Departure Warning (LDW); Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS); and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

All Honda vehicles also benefit from Honda’s proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, designed to protect occupants in a wide variety of frontal collisions, along with advanced supplemental restraint systems.

To qualify for a 2020 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, a vehicle must earn good ratings in six crashworthiness evaluations, including the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. It also

The 2021 version of Honda’s “Ultimate Family Vehicle” gets numerous upgrades to styling, technology and safety features, and an innovative industry-first Rear-Seat Reminder system integrated with the vehicle’s CabinWatch® rear-seat camera system.

Major upgrades to the 2021 Honda Odyssey include more powerful and efficient LED headlights, a redesigned blackout grille topped by a chrome strip, and a redesigned lower front facia and fog light housings. New gloss-black trim under the rear window, accented by a chrome strip, echoes the new grille treatment. Select models receive newly designed 19-inch alloy wheels and auto-dimming side mirrors.

Changes inside include updated climate controls and second-row seatbacks that fold flat for easier seat removal. New tri-colour floor mats and illuminated USB ports, restyled seats with contrast stitching, power lumbar support for the front passenger seat, and second-row seatback pockets are also available.

All 2021 Honda Odyssey trims will come standard with the Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies, previously standard on EX and above trims. Honda Sensing® is now enhanced with new features that include Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, and Pedestrian Emergency Braking.

Also new for the 2021 model year is Odyssey’s Rear-Seat Reminder system which is designed to prompt drivers to check their rear seating area before exiting the vehicle, with an audible alert and a warning message in the driver’s display. On upper trims, the system uses the CabinWatch camera to display the rear seating area on the Display Audio screen, the first integration of a rear-seat camera with a rear-seat reminder system in the industry.
