2020 Honda Accord
Is The Accord Really THAT Good? (+video)

There is almost literally no end to the awards and accolades won by Honda’s legendary Accord sedan. The 2020 Honda Accord has won the Kelly Blue Book “5-Year Cost to Own” award and their “Best Buy” and “Best in Midsized Cars of 2020” awards, an Edmunds “Top Rated Sedan” and “Best Retained Value” awards, Car and Driver’s “America’s Best Sedan” award – even Good Housekeeping gave it their “Best New Car” award. It’s truly impressive.

But what do the professional automotive journalists think about the Accord on a personal level? Would they buy one with their own money? What do you think?:

The Honda Accord remains one of the most popular, and influential, vehicles in the segment, as it traditionally sets and continually raises the bar for what a midsize car should be. Handling is one of the Accord’s trademark strengths; owners cite it as their second favourite aspect of owning an Accord. Indeed, the steering is responsive and accurate, the brakes are outstanding, and the handling is superb.

If you’re thinking of bucking the (SUV) trend by returning to the warm embrace of a sedan, the 2020 Honda Accord offers a top-flight driving character combined with comfort, efficiency, safety, and technology, all at a far more advantageous price than a similarly equipped SUV
Liz Kim, J.D. Power

“I have no qualms declaring the new Accord the best car in its class—the best in some other classes, too.” Consider our comparison test in which we pitted an Accord 2.0T touring against an Audi A4. We declared the Accord the winner, concluding that “at this 40-grand price point, the Accord Touring is a more convincing luxury car than the A4 Ultra.

But even in lower-priced, 1.5T guise, the Accord reigns supreme in its class. In a comparison test between the Accord 1.5 and Toyota Camry XSE, we said “The Accord is more comfortable, spacious, and luxurious than the Camry … simply put, Toyota built a better Camry, but Honda built a better car.”
Jonny Lieberman, MotorTrend

“Driving an Accord has been a safe and sensible decision as long as the car has existed. It becomes something much more than that—rewarding, engaging, fun—when you hustle the car harder than most drivers do. The attributes that make it so special are likely missed by the apathetic, sleep-walking masses who don’t know what they have. The Accord’s dynamic competence is always lying in wait for a discerning driver to wake it.

This sensible family sedan is a sleeper because of how the Accord’s chassis responds when roused from a lazy commute. Alert steering and fluid handling turn every dogleg on-ramp, cloverleaf interchange, and 270-degree off-ramp into a momentary escape from the monotonous and the mundane”
Eric Tingwall, Car and Driver

“Few things in life are as immutable as the existence of the Honda Accord. This stalwart of the midsize sedan segment has been picking up awards for decades, and before a time when crossovers ruled the land, the Accord was arguably Honda’s most important car. The landscape is a little different now, but the Accord is still here, still delivering unprecedented excellence on all fronts
