5 Ways to Ensure your Vehicle is Ready to Go when you are

1 RUN YOUR ENGINE PERIODICALLY

Fluid circulation in your vehicle is essential for a smooth start once you hit the road again. Running your engine for even just 10 seconds every couple of weeks can ensure it stays lubricated and ready to go. Remember, only run your engine in a well-ventilated area and avoid idling for too long.

Moving your vehicle to the end of your driveway or around the block can help to prevent flat spots from forming in your tires.

2 GET READY FOR WARMER WEATHER

Now that the spring weather has arrived, you might want to consider changing to all season or summer tires. Though it’s alright to drive on winter tires in the heat if absolutely necessary, they may experience premature wear if used for too long in spring and summer.

Our technicians are still available to switch your tires over if you’d like to make the change – contact us at 888-365-2070 for the most up-to-date information on appointment availability.

3 KEEP THE EXTERIOR CLEAN

Winter driving leaves behind a variety of elements that can be harsh on your vehicle’s exterior. If left on your vehicle, salt, slush and sand can cause rust to form. Taking some time to clean the exterior of your vehicle will help to prevent rusting.

If you’re storing your vehicle in a garage, ensure it’s completely dry before parking – the damp conditions of a garage can cause rust formation if your vehicle is stored while wet.

4 DEEP CLEAN THE INTERIOR

Thoroughly wiping down your interior will not only help ensure your vehicle shines, it can also help to disinfect it. It’s especially important at this time that you wipe down high-contact surfaces like your steering wheel, the dashboard, seatbelt buckles and door handles.

Be wary of using products like alcohol cleaners on interior surfaces, as they can cause damage to plastics and other materials.

5 PROTECT AGAINST PESTS

Pesky critters like mice and squirrels may sneak into your vehicle while it’s not in use. They can chew through essential vehicle components, leave odours and in some cases, permanently damage your vehicle. To keep rodents away, consider pouring mulch or cedar around the outside of your vehicle, as pests are repelled by the scent of these materials.

A cover for your vehicle may also prevent animal residues from affecting the exterior. Plus, it helps protect from elements like rain, hail and sun.

We’re committed to ensuring you and your loved ones can move safely and reliably. If you have any questions about how to care for your vehicle, bringing your vehicle in for service, or any other matter, feel free to contact us at 888-365-2070
