Glenn Bonderud is a very lucky man, not only has he worked for the West Coast Auto Group and West Coast Mazda for over 19 years and the Mazda brand for over 44 years; he had a heart valve replaced in January of last year continues his career as Master Technician.

He says he’s really enjoying working part-time and the relaxed pace that he has created with this partial retirement. He soon will be able to collect his Old Age Security, although he looks too young for that.

Glenn was recently selected to participate in the 2018 MazTech Competition taking place across Canada. He had to complete a 50 question test to vie for the opportunity to compete in Toronto. The top 10 are welcomed to an all-expenses-paid trip to Mazda’s head office where they showcased their talents in a skills competition solving challenging bugs on a Mazda vehicle.

Points were awarded for each bug resolved and tallied to determine this year’s overall champion and runners-up.

Unfortunately, Glenn was not a recipient of a prize but just to be selected for this competition and to make it as far as he did was an honour for both Glenn and West Coast Mazda.

When not working, Glenn spends time with his wife Bonita, of 42 years!

He has recently taken up the hobby of knife making and has forged about 6 knives…probably influenced by that TV show Forged in Fire. Like many, it has taken hold of Glenn and who knows maybe that will be the next competition that we see Glenn enter.

He also mentions that he just bought a motorcycle and is looking forward to a summer of fun and excitement out on the winding roads.
