2018 Mazda6
More Firepower and Refinement for 2018

The Mazda6 was already well-known for being one of the best-looking vehicles in its class for its uniquely sculptural and athletic styling. The sporty sedan embodies Mazda’s KODO: “Soul of Motion” design philosophy and is as captivating at a standstill as it is on the road.

Only the second Mazda model in North America to adopt the brand’s latest design language, the new 6 sports a front-end design similar to that of the CX-5 compact crossover. Defined by slim headlights and a big, five-point grille, the front end’s most eye-catching characteristic is the chrome grille surround that merges with the bottoms of the headlights.

Changes are more obvious and impactful on the inside, where Mazda claims only the steering wheel and some minor trim pieces carry over. The concept behind the styling improvements is “Mature Elegance,” and Mazda’s design team worked to raise the quality feel of both the interior and exterior, resulting in a look of greater maturity and composure.

A new high-grade interior features Japanese Sen Wood, often used in traditional Japanese instruments and furniture, and other exclusive trim elements for an enhanced premium feel that is authentic to the brand. Overall the design is more distinctive, premium, beautiful and dignified, as befits the crown jewel of Mazda’s passenger car lineup.

Key standard or available features include LED headlights that integrate fog lamps, a 360-degree camera, a 7.0-inch gauge display, an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, heads-up display, cooled front seats, and radar cruise control.

The most exciting changes are found under Mazda6’s hood. For the first time, two distinctly different engine choices will be available. The SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter gasoline engine returns with new technologies, including a cylinder deactivation system for superior fuel efficiency and a performance feel crafted to match human sensibilities.

2018 Mazda6 will also be available with the turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four found in the CX-9 mid-size crossover SUV. The forced-induction four-cylinder produces 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque when running high-octane gasoline or 227 hp on regular. Producing torque on par with 4-litre V8, this engine offers an effortless performance feel that is equal parts composure and excitement.

While the naturally aspirated engine is available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission, the turbocharged engine is offered exclusively with the six-speed automatic.

The updated Mazda6 will also offer a wider range of advanced i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies which help the driver identify potential risks and reduce the likelihood of damage or injury. Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) can now bring the car to a standing stop and take off again when the car in front moves away, and the model also adopts Mazda’s latest 360° View Monitor. In combination with previously introduced safety features, these technologies allow drivers to enjoy superior safety and worry-free driving under an even wider variety of conditions.

Click the test drive button and be among the first to drive the refreshed and refined 2018 Mazda6 when it arrives later this year.
