Samsung Galaxy S8
Everything You Need in a Smartphone, and More

The latest in Samsung’s series of flagship Android smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will finally be making its way into the hands of waiting consumers later this month, and it is not going to disappoint.

Anticipation for the Galaxy S8 has been building ever since the powerful and stylish S7 took the Android smartphone market by storm. Many wondered what Samsung would do next to improve on such an already well-rounded handset. Well, with Samsung S8’s release just around the corner, let’s take a look at what you can expect.

Design and Display

Prospective buyers shouldn’t expect too many major changes in the design of the Galaxy S8, and that’s because there wasn’t a need for them. The S6 and the S7 models were already largely considered to be among the most attractive-looking Android smartphones. The power and volume keys of the S8 are located on the side, and one new difference is that the fingerprint sensor is now on the back due to the removal of a physical home button.

Don’t worry, the iconic home button has been replaced by on-screen navigation keys, and was removed in order to make room for a taller display. Around the tall display you’ll find much slimmer bezels than on previous models, as well as sleek-looking curved edges. The Samsung Galaxy S8 will come in two different sizes just like the S6 and S7 models did, one with a 5.8-inch display and one with a 6.2-inch display.

Specs and Features

The Galaxy S8 carries over numerous features from previous models, such as USB-C charging, an Iris Scanner, and waterproofing. Likewise, it will also come with Android’s latest 7.0 Nougat operating system, as the update is already available on the S7. One very neat new feature of the S8 is an AI personal assistant named Bixby, created by the same team that created Siri.

With the Samsung Galaxy S8 you can expect more power than was available from its predecessors, due, in large part, to a new chip. The S8 chips are built using a 10nm FinFET manufacturing process, an upgrade from 14nm chips. What this essentially means is that the chip has more densely packed transistors, offering enhanced performance along with improved efficiency and lower power consumption, which should help the standard 3,000mAh/3,500mAh batteries last longer.

Front and Rear Camera

Samsung is, of course, known for their smartphone cameras, and the Galaxy S8 only continues to demonstrate their dominance in the smartphone camera space. While no major improvement in MP is expected, the rear camera is no doubt going to outshine anything that’s currently available on other phones, especially in regards to low-light photography. The Galaxy S8’s front camera is also sure to provide you with stunning selfies and a whole lot of fun when playing with Snapchat filters.

With all of the well-loved features that it has retained and all of the improvement that it has made on its popular and well-review predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is definitely a smartphone to get excited about.
