All-Ages Sault Ste. Marie Science Festival Returns

Returning for its fourth year, the Sault Ste. Marie Science Festival is continuing its mission to spark a passion for science in people of all ages by providing a welcoming setting to watch science in action.

This week-long festival will run from April 23rd to April 28th at various locations throughout Sault Ste. Marie. It brings together children, teens, and adults with local science practitioners under the direction of Science North, one of northern Ontario’s most popular tourist attractions. Other festival partners include Algoma University, Entomic, Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Sault College, Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre, Natural Resources Canada, Invasive Species Centre, and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

The Sault Ste. Marie Science Festival is comprised of numerous events intended to raise awareness of the natural and applied sciences. Here is a brief overview of the activities, events, and exhibits which will be taking place at the festival.

Science for Seniors – April 23 to 27

Older adults who have a passion for bugs or a passion for learning (or both!) will get the chance to interact with hands-on displays presented by Entomica and to ask questions of real insect scientists. Science for Seniors events will be taking place at select seniors’ centres throughout the city.
