The 9th annual event brought out more than 420 participants dawning red shoes of all kinds as they walked in support of women and children fleeing violence. Last years campaign raised an amazing total of $138,204.12 which adds up to a total of 3,007 Safe Nights being made possible. This amazing accomplishment surpassed the year’s goal of 3000 safe nights and was a fundraising feat that just doesn’t happen by chance.

The top fundraising team for the 2017 W.A.M. campaign was the Mortlock construction team! Fondly referred to as the “MortWalk team” they o topped group fundraising efforts by raising $9,202, which translates into providing 200 Safe Nights sleep for the YWCA of Peterborough Haliburton. The Mortlock Construction team not only raised the most as a team but they also took home the top fundraising award for an individual contribution with owner Tom Mortlock raising $3,577.68.

With the 2018 Walk a Mile campaign fast approaching, there is much excitement surrounding the 10th annual walk and the details of this much-anticipated community event. Trent Valley Honda is proud to return as the title sponsor of the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes campaign and is also excited for the return of Drew Merrett and Merrett Home Hardware as the Safe Nights Sponsor.
