Don’t let winter keep you inside! At Mountsberg Conservation Area we invite you to join us on a horse-drawn ride through a winter wonderland. Arrive at a roaring bonfire rosy-cheeked and ready for a tasty marshmallow roast- a perfect way to get outside and enjoy winter with friends and family! Make a day of it by visiting with the park’s resident birds of prey and farm animals, followed by a trip to the play barn and gift shop. A day spent outside in the crisp winter air and everyone will head home ready for a long winter’s nap.

Crawford Lake Conservation Area
Jan 25th, Feb 8th 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Discover the magic of winter at night, the snow illuminated by moonlight and the stars bright in the night sky. Your guide will lead you on a snowshoe hike (snowshoes provided) through this beautiful landscape. The evening will end fireside with some tasty hot chocolate. Not recommended for children under the age of 10.

WNED KID FEST at the RBG

This fun-filled family weekend takes place each winter at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario. Children and parents can enjoy meet-and-greets with beloved PBS KIDS characters, as well as an assortment of activities, prizes, and more. Various organizations from around the community participate — presenting live performances, crafts, and giveaways for those who attend.

Waterdown Winter Wonderland
Free Walk. Sunday, Feb 2 9am-2pm
Enjoy a fresh peaceful Sunday morning in the Waterdown Woods on the brow of the Escarpment with great views of Hamilton Harbour and the hopefully ice-encrusted Great Falls.
Registration appreciated. 12 km at moderate pace, 3-4 km/hr on moderate terrain -some hills and poor footing. Bring your winter boots with icers, a warm drink/water and lots of snacks. Poles recommended. Optional refreshment stop after.

RBG – Speaker Series: Exploring Cootes Paradise Marsh Through Art

Cootes Paradise Marsh has been portrayed by artists in many ways since Elizabeth Simcoe made the first known painting of the area in 1796. More than decorative art, the paintings of Cootes Paradise made by subsequent generations are valuable historical documents showing us changes in the landscape.
