Under the Hood with Ken Graham
Senior Technician

September 10, 2001 is a pivotal moment in Ken Graham’s life. It’s the day he started with Brasso Nissan after stints at Mazda and GM. Sixteen years later he is a Senior Technician who has also has 17 years in the army reserves with a peacekeeping mission in Bosnia under his belt. We sat down with Ken and asked him some questions we had always wanted to know.

How does extensive army reserve experience serve him as a tech with Brasso?
“Being a tech is pretty individual role, but at Brasso all of the techs help each other out. If someone sees a tech having a challenge trying to figure something out on a vehicle, we all brainstorm and offer suggestions or discuss our experience with that issue. My experience in the army reserves taught me how to communicate clearly and efficiently and then execute well.”

What do you like best about your job?
What I like best is that every day it’s a bit different. Some days you stretch your brain and it’s exciting to figure out the solution. We go to school to learn to diagnose. We start the diagnostic patch with a code. It doesn’t tell you exactly what’s wrong with the vehicle, there’s only a code. Is it a mechanical fault? Is it electrical?

When you’re not driving your 2006 X-Terra, we see you driving a DeLorean. What’s the appeal?
“When I see my car, I think “Oh yeah I’m winning every day” I love the DeLorean because of its unique story. Most of all, that car puts a smile on people’s faces. I can park beside the hottest car and mine will still get the looks.”

What was your biggest take away from your experience in Bosnia?
I was there on a peacekeeping mission. That was tough because you see some tough things… but you also see the beauty in the world.”
