Under the Hood with Ernie Long
Detail Manager at Brasso Car Care Centre

“I started in 1992 as a salesman the first day the “All new Nissan Altima”
was released, it was a game changer for Nissan.” He explains, “the Altima had soft edges, looked modern and was made in Smyrna Tennessee.”
Ernie has worked in most departments in the dealership from Salesman (including fleet and commercial vehicles) to Service Advisor before moving into his current role as Manager of the Car Care Centre in 2013.
An award-winning Salesman multiple times, Ernie says one of the proudest moments in his career was when he was Sales Manager and won the Club Excellence Platinum Award in 2008. This award is given to one person who achieves the highest standings in all regions in Canada.

“I’m fortunate to be part of an incredible organization and I’m proud to have had the opportunity to help many people find their favourite Nissan vehicle. He adds “It’s a pleasure to welcome people to the Brasso
experience.”
In his current role as Detail manager, Ernie oversees 14 employees that look after reconditioning of preowned cars, new car delivery prep and the application of protection products including 3M, undercoating, fabric protection, dent and paint repair, as well as dent and hail damage repair.

“The Detail Team takes pride in each and every clean and getting vehicles looking as nice as the day they were purchased.”

Ernie describes the best part of his job as seeing the look on people’s faces when they get into a freshly detailed car. “Parents that spend a lot of time in their vehicle taking their kids to activities and customers with
furry pets are among our happiest clients,” laughs Ernie.

When asked what his favourite vehicle is his passion is evident “I would very much like to have a 1993 Nissan 300ZX turbo. That was the car I fell in love with the first week with the company.” Pausing for a moment he adds “A new GT-R would also work!”
