The 2017 Nissan Versa Note
Big Value in a Small Package

The 2017 Nissan Versa Note is a versatile little driver perfect for getting around (and parking) worry-free. For just under $15,000 you get a smart-looking hatchback with a surprising amount of interior passenger and cargo room that will fit into some of the smallest parking spots around.

Nissan Versa Note buyers will be happy to avoid new car sticker shock. According to Kelley Blue Book, the average new car price for 2016 was $34,000, more than double the starting price of the 2017 Versa Note. But the savings don’t end there with fuel economy ratings at 8.6 city and 6.6 highway L/100 km.

The Versa Note’s high ceiling creates a spacious, open cabin and according to Nissan Canada, offers best in class interior room. There’s 3196L in total cabin space with 532L behind the back seat. Designers sought to maximise every nook and cranny of that volume and created a useful split-level cargo system for the hatchback.

972 mm of rear seat leg room mean taller rear seat passengers will be pleasantly surprised. The Nissan Versa achieves best in class bragging rights over the Toyota Yaris and Ford Fiesta in this category as well. Wide open rear doors mean adult rear passengers can get in and out easier.

So what does one get for this price? More than you may expect. A versatile cargo area and a few key tech and connectivity features are included in the economical price point. All Versa Notes have six standard airbags including dual-stage supplemental front airbags, driver and front passenger seat-mounted, side-impact airbags and roof-mounted curtain airbags with rollover sensor for side impacts.

The four trim levels start with the entry-level S with a 109-horsepower, 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Power heated outside mirrors, air conditioning, an audio system, a versatile 60/40 split fold-down rear seat configuration and a Bluetooth hands-free phone system are standard.

The SV adds $2500 to the price tag as well as a rear-view monitor, keyless entry, cruise control, power windows and locks, heated front seats, a premium audio system with CD and MP3 playback, 127 mm (5.0″) colour display, SiriusXM Satellite Radio and a Divide-N-Hide adjustable cargo floor that can be set to two different heights for loading or removed completely to accommodate taller items.

Starting at $19,198, the SR is the Versa Note sport package with Nissan’s Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission, 16″ aluminum-alloy wheels, all-season tires, fog lights, a rear roof spoiler with sport side sills and premium sport-inspired steering wheel and seats in faux suede with orange contrast stitching.

For an extra $550 you upgrade to the top of the line Versa Note SL with SiriusXM Traffic, navigation and a 5.8″ colour display, a USB port, Around View Monitor, Intelligent Key, Push Button Start and front fog lights.
