Gearing Up for the Calgary Comic Expo

One of the premier pop culture events in all of Western Canada, the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo is coming back with another year of can’t-miss exhibits, workshops, and events.

The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo will be taking place at Calgary Stampede Park, the home of the world-famous Calgary Stampede, located just outside of the city’s downtown core. The main entrance to the park is off Roundup Way SE, but taking the LRT to the event is easy as well. The show will be running from April 26th to April 29th, though for different hours each day, as follows:

Apr 26: 4 pm to 9 pm
Apr 27: 12 pm to 8 pm
Apr 28: 10 am to 7 pm
Apr 29: 10 am to 5 pm

There’s no shortage of things to see and do at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo. Check out workshops and seminars about creating cosplays, improving your drawing skills, and more! Head to the show floor to see what all of the Calgary Expo’s many exhibitors have to offer, such as the latest VR headsets. Go shopping for comics, DVDs, toys, video games, t-shirts, and all sorts of fan memorabilia offered by over 700 different retailers and artists. Visit the all-new artist alley to meet up-and-coming local artists who are trying to make it big. Make sure, while you’re racing from one activity to the next, that you take the time to appreciate all of the amazing cosplays.

And, of course, there’s no forgetting about the special guest stars that attendees flock to see every year. The Calgary Expo features actors, writers, comic book artists, producers, musicians, and many other talented creators. You’ll get a chance to ask some of your favourite pop culture creators a question during celebrity Q&As and even a chance to meet them at celebrity autograph and photo sessions. Just some of the many special quests stars who will be attending the Calgary Expo this year include Jason Momoa, Jeff Goldblum, Jennifer Morrison, Christopher Lloyd, and Michael J Fox.

The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo held its first annual event in 2005, attracting around 3,000 people. Since then, it has grown to be one of the largest conventions of its kind in the entire country. This year, the Calgary Expo has joined with Fan Expo to provide an even better and bigger experience for all attendees. Fan Expo presents some of the largest pop culture expos in all of North America, including Fan Expo Boston, Fan Expo Orlando, Fan Expo Vancouver, and Fan Expo Toronto. The same people are going to continue creating and developing the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo that past attendees know and love but now with the backing of a much larger team.

Last year’s Calgary Expo drew over 95,000 visitors, and there’s no reason to suspect that this year, thanks to the team-up with Fan Expo, won’t be as big or even bigger. No matter what fandom or fandoms you are a part of, there’s something for everyone at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo, so swing by and let your geek flag fly!
