June was our official month of giving back to the community. It’s not that we’re going to stop for the rest of the year, it’s just that June is one of our biggest fundraising initiatives. Giving back to the community that has supported Brasso for almost half a century is important to us.

We are excited to announce that we raised $4,500 for the YW Sheriff King Home crisis shelter. Our Grill Master and GM, Dianne Degutis, showed off her mad skills with two fundraising BBQs and partial proceeds from each vehicle sale during our Anniversary Event were also donated.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who celebrated our 48th Anniversary and contributed to our fundraising efforts.

YW Sheriff King Home crisis shelters women and their children with a safe place to begin rebuilding their lives.

Many vulnerable women remain locked into a cycle of abuse because they have nowhere to go. The YW Sheriff King Home Crisis shelter is a haven for women and their children who are fleeing family violence.

The YWCA Sheriff King Home crisis shelter provides basic needs including food and personal items. On site case managers provide counselling and connect clients to resources for housing programs, legal services, and education supports. The goal of the YWCA Sheriff King Home Emergency Shelter is to provide safety and security and then to establish a transition plan to ensure safety and security can become a regular way of life.

Fast Facts:
In 2015, YW Sheriff King Home sheltered 212 women and 276 children fleeing family violence.

$2,680 shelters a woman for her 21-day stay at the shelter.
