Stellar Summer Flicks
Upcoming Blockbusters to Get Excited About

Are you getting ready for blockbuster season? We’ve got the scoop on six of the most hotly anticipated summer flicks that you’re not going to want to miss.

2018 has already been a big year for box office hits, with the releases of films such as Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War. Well, get ready, because there are more sure box office smashes to come this spring and summer, including:

1) Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25)

Solo: A Star Wars Story is the second instalment in the Star Wars anthology film series following 2016’s Rogue One. The movie has been described as a “space western” that will follow a young Han Solo on his adventures prior to the original 1977 Star Wars film. Solo will, of course, be accompanied by his Wookiee partner Chewbacca, and moviegoers will get to see how the two of them first encountered Lando Calrissian. The film stars Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, and Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo.

2) Ocean’s 8 (June 8)

Continuing the recent trend of female-led films, the Ocean’s 11 film series is also getting a star-studded all-female spinoff. The movie follows Debbie (Sandra Bullock), the estranged sister of Danny Ocean, as she pulls together a crew for a heist at the Met Gala in New York City. Absolutely brimming with talent, the Ocean’s 8 cast also includes Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Awkwafina, and Helena Bonham Carter.

3) Incredibles 2 (June 15)

The long-awaited sequel to 2004’s The Incredibles is finally almost here! Incredibles 2 picks up right where the first movie left off, with the Parr family attempting to get back to their normal lives. Helen, aka Elastigirl, resumes her work as a superhero while Bob, aka Mr. Incredible, stays at home to take care of the kids, including baby Jack-Jack. The movie promises an exciting new villain and some intriguing developments with Jack-Jack’s mysterious powers.

4) Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22)

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is both the sequel to 2015’s Jurassic World and the fifth film overall in the Jurassic Park film series. Following the demise of the Jurassic World theme park, dinosaurs are roaming freely on Isla Nublar. However, the dinosaurs are once again threatened with extinction from an imminent volcanic eruption. Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and B. D. Wong have all returned to the cast and are joined by Jeff Goldblum, who is reprising his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm from the original trilogy.

5) Ant-Man and the Wasp (July 6)

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly both return for the sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man. Ant-Man and the Wasp will be the twentieth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War. It follows Scott Lang (Rudd), as he tries to balance his Ant-Man responsibilities with being a father. His home life is further complicated when he is required to team up with Wasp (Lilly) on a new mission.

6) Mission: Impossible – Fallout (July 26)

Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the fifth instalment in the Mission Impossible film series, finds Ethan Hunt on the wrong side of the CIA after an IMF mission ends badly. Hunt must race the clock and escape assassins in order to prevent dire global consequences. Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Sam Harris, Michelle Monaghan, and Alec Baldwin are all reprising their roles, to be joined by Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, Sian Brooke, and Vanessa Kirby.

If you’re planning to see any of the films above, then you’re definitely going to want to purchase advanced tickets. Then simply grab some popcorn once you’re at the theatre, take your seat, and get ready to be entertained.
