Congratulations all!

The Brant Skating Club and coach Alison Purkiss made history last week at the Canadian Tire National Skating Championships in Mississauga.

With skaters competing in the three pairs divisions – novice, junior and senior – members from the BSC who are coached by Alison Purkiss, won two gold medals and a silver.

It is the first time in the club’s history that it has national medalists in all three pairs divisions in the same year.

Golds went to novices Lily Wilberforce and Aidan Wright and juniors Patricia Andrew and Zachary Daleman. Seniors Evelyn Walsh and Trennt Michaud won silver.

Walsh and Michaud will go on to compete at the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, Feb. 3-9, in Seoul, South Korea. They’ll be hoping to earn a berth on the Canadian team that will compete at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships, March 16-22, in Montreal.

Andrew and Daleman, who still have another year of junior eligibility left, have qualified for the ISU Junior World Figure Skating Championships, March 2-8, in Tallinn, Estonia.

Walsh, Michaud, Andrew, Daleman, Wilberforce and Wright will all skate in the BSC’s annual Flashing Blades show on April 11 at the Civic Centre. The 70th annual event will feature a mix of pop hits from the past seven decades, as well as songs from the film, Mary Poppins.
