Fire and Ice Festival
Bracebridge’s Unique Take on a Winter Carnival

The Town of Bracebridge is gearing up to put on its third annual Fire and Ice Festival, a one-of-a-kind winter festival that will have you cooling down and warming up from one event to the next.

A full-day event in Downtown Bracebridge, the Fire and Ice Festival will be taking place on Saturday, January 27th this year. Come out to enjoy the “fire” features, such as fire pits and fire artists, and the “ice” features, such as ice sculptures and ice skating. The day will also be filled out by a plethora of other family-friendly activities and events.

You’ll need a day pass to attend the Fire and Ice Festival, which can be obtained at the admission booths during the event. Passes are cash only and cost $3 per child (ages 6-12) and $5 per adult. Children aged five and under get to attend the festival for free.

The different activities of the Fire and Ice Festival will take place at three main locations: Memorial Park, Midtown (Mary Street to Taylor Road), and Downtown (Taylor Road to Ontario Street). All three locations are just down the road from each other, along Manitoba Street.

Memorial Park will be home to a plethora of all-day activities during the festival, including skating at the Memorial Park Winter Village, outdoor crafts, try-it fat biking, and an ice canvas kids activity. From 9 am to 4 pm, you can have fun slipping and sliding on a mini tube slide hosted by Snow Valley. Griffin Gastro Pub will also be hosting a beer garden as well as a ball hockey tournament at Memorial Park.

Head to Midtown for an all-day tube run, a toasty warming station, and maple taffy provided by Sugarbush Hill Maple Farms. Other fun Midtown activities taking place throughout the day include a “Make Your Own Bird Feeder” tutorial, drop-in crafts at the public library, and an interesting travel presentation on Iceland at the library as well.

Downtown Bracebridge will be home to the most Fire and Ice Festival activities, including a kids carnival zone, fire and ice busker shows, a mini golf course, giant board games, outdoor curling, outdoor bowling, hockey shootouts, and an Ojibway storyteller and teepee display. In downtown you can also catch ice carving demonstrations multiple times throughout the day, as well as a fireworks show slated to start at 8:30 pm.

A few other locations will be hosting activities during the Bracebridge Fire and Ice Festival as well. You can kick off the festival at the Bracebridge Memorial Arena with a pancake breakfast and finish it off at LIV Outside Adventures with a bonfire, hot chocolate, and night fat biking and snowshoeing. The Muskoka Brewery will be hosting live music and an ice bar all day, and Let the Cat Go Fine Art and Craft Studio will be hosting a Make and Take Craft event.

By mid-winter, most people could use a little pick-me-up. The Fire and Ice Festival in Downtown Bracebridge will help to renew your appreciation for the season. On January 27th, get bundled up and head out to Downtown Bracebridge for the best winter party around.
