With Canada’s 152nd birthday just around the corner, it’s time to start planning where you’ll be on July 1st. Here are seven spots across the country that are known for their Canada Day festivities.

Parliament Hill, Ottawa

The biggest Canada Day celebrations are always held on the lawns of Parliament Hill in the nation’s capital city, spreading out to the surrounding parks and downtown streets. Canadians from all across the country tune in to the Parliament Hill broadcast and thousands of people attend the event in person. The festivities start early and continue until a massive fireworks show in the evening. During the day there are concerts, street performances, games, midway rides, and much more.

Harbourfront Centre, Toronto

Toronto truly loves Canada Day, celebrating it not just on July 1st but for multiple days in advance as well. Visit the city at the end of June for a mix of Canadian themed celebrations and numerous other festivals, including Toronto Pride. On Canada Day itself, head down to the Harbourfront Centre for music, games, food, and fireworks over Lake Ontario.

Queen Victoria Park, Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is one of the biggest attractions in Canada, so it’s no wonder that it holds one of the biggest Canada Day celebrations as well. The day comprises of an array of family-friendly activities, including a parade, concerts, a car show, and more. Make sure you grab a spot in the evening to watch the fireworks over the beautiful falls.

The Forks, Winnipeg

Nestled in the heart of Winnipeg’s downtown, The Forks is where the Red River and Assiniboine River meet. On Canada Day, this popular area hosts fun activities all day long, including free concerts on three separate stages. There are also arts and crafts for the little ones, fun games for adults, and, of course, fireworks at the end of the night.

North Saskatchewan River, Edmonton

Edmonton’s picturesque river valley is one of the most beautiful places to catch Canada Day fireworks. Some of the best viewing areas include the grounds of the Alberta Legislature, High Level Bridge, and Victoria Park. There are always plenty of other activities throughout the day, including a parade and live music at City Hall.

Canada Place, Vancouver

Canada Place in Vancouver boasts the second-largest Canada Day celebration (after Ottawa), attracting hundreds of thousands of people. The incredible fireworks display over Coal Harbour is perhaps the most famous in the entire country. The daytime festival begins before noon and includes live music, cultural exhibits, and delicious food from different parts of Canada. This is followed by the evening parade, which celebrates all of the international communities that make Canada their home.

Inner Harbour, Victoria

If you’re on Vancouver Island, then Victoria is the place to be during Canada Day. The British Columbia Parliament Buildings host live music and entertainment while the waterfront bustles with vendors selling all sorts of delicious food and handmade goods. When the sun goes down, the Inner Harbour is spectacularly lit up with fireworks.

Whether you are located in the east or the west, there is a major Canada Day bash near you where you can have a blast celebrating this nation’s birthday. Each of the celebrations listed here is worth attending at least once.
