The 2017 Nissan NV200
The most affordable compact cargo van available

Nissan set sales records in Canada for 2016, thanks to its diverse line of well-priced, dependable cars and trucks. Part of Nissan’s success is due to the 2017 NV200 commercial compact cargo van. Starting at $21,330, it’s less expensive (by at least $10K) versus its competitors like the Ford Transit or Chevy Express. And with Canada’s best commercial van warranty of 5 years and 160,000 kilometres, it’s worth visiting us and giving this little multi-duty van a look.

This compact, two-seater, cargo van is geared toward business owners interested in savings and value. If most of your work requires commuting around the city and battling for parking spots, the small and manoeuvrable NV200 is for you.

You won’t find many of the frills and upgrades that you can add to other cargo vans in the class. But there are enough features included to leave you satisfied. And $10,000 in savings may just convince you to forego the more luxurious packages other similar vans have to offer.

The 2017 Nissan NV2011 is available in two trim levels: S and SV. Power exterior mirrors, cruise control, AC, floor protectors and halogen headlights are standard on all models. The S also gets black bumpers and trim as standard. For another $1,000, the SV models feature body-colour bumpers, remote keyless entry, a chrome grille and a different design for the 15-inch wheels.

If you’re interested in having navigation, Sirius, voice recognition and hands-free Bluetooth and a rear camera, you’ll have to opt for the SV level, which offers these connectivity necessities as a technology package upgrade.

Both NV200 models have the same body, wheelbase and engine. It’s a good choice for city driving, powered by a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine with a continuously variable transmission. Outputting 131 horsepower and 139 pound-feet of torque, it’s nicely efficient with a fuel rating around the town of 9.7 L/100 km for the S and 9.0 L/100 km for the SV and 9.7 / 9.0 L/100 km respectively, on the highway.

The NV200 may be compact, but the cargo area can hold up to 3474 litres of goods, thanks to a flat wheel well design and a low load floor height. Both the S and SV come smartly equipped with a mobile office space featuring a fold-down front seat work desk and a multifunctional centre console, as well as plenty of mounting points and optional D-rings to secure cargo and add on nearly any aftermarket rack system. 2 sliding side cargo doors and 180-degree-opening 60/40-split rear cargo doors make loading and offloading the van a snap.
